Pompey expect to win every game

I have never experienced a defeat as bad as our 6-0 loss to Manchester City last Sunday. It´s always hard for a team to lose a game but, as professional footballers, we need to take this game as a lesson and make sure it never happens again.

Manchester City are a good team and it was no surprise to me how well they played. I have been watching the video of the game since Sunday. It´s something I do after every game I play in - to look at my mistakes and learn from them.

We expect to win every game, so really we should have had maximum points from every game so far. That´s not happened but it´s only the beginning of the season and we still have a long way to go. I think we have started well though, and at times have played some very good football.

Pedro Mendes and Sulley Muntari leaving in the summer was a big loss to the team. It was of course difficult to play without them to begin with, but now we´re starting to adapt to life without them. We have brought new players in, like Younes Kaboul, Armand Traore and Peter Crouch. They have all settled in very easily. They have become part of the Pompey family and will make us a better team.

It will be nice to play at Fratton Park again on Sunday after last week´s difficult away trip. It´s always a pleasure to play in Portsmouth. It makes the games more exciting and I feel we are a stronger team when we play at home in front of our own fans. We face Tottenham and having former Spurs players Jermain Defoe and Younes Kaboul playing will help us to win the game. They are both good players and know Spurs better than anyone. Defoe especially is a top player and I feel he will score many more goals this season, particularly with Peter Crouch playing alongside him.

Spurs have had a bad start to the season but I think playing them will be like playing any other team in the Premier League because in football you never know what´s going to happen. They may be low in confidence but they still have a good team. The only way for us to win the game is to play good football and score goals and that´s exactly what we will try to do.

We also have a UEFA Cup second leg game in Portugal to look forward to. We had a good 2-0 win in the first leg against Vitoria SC and I think we can go far in that competition.
